Great piece, Sydney! Thanks for handling my story so sensitively. Great job!

It was an honor to be able to share your story. I hope you feel it was done some justice. Still one of my favorite conversations to date!

You more than did it justice, and captured my voice as well, which is a sign of good journalism! πŸ™Œ

So the question I have – and I suspect the question that everybody reading this article will have as well – is… Have you written to the Vatican yet? And have they replied? Deus vult πŸ™

I will have to let Eugene answer that for himself! @Eugene ? ☺️

I asked a fixer in Rome and it turned out that the marriage was not registered civilly. Emails to the Vatican went unanswered. I rang the Passport Office again and lovely Aoife made a note and told me to claim with Dad’s birth certificate. I don’t wish to jinx it but it appears to be slipping through like an eel in a bucket of snot! πŸ˜‚πŸ€žβœŠ

He’s got such a positive outlook and is happy with his life in Spain despite what he’s been through which I think is really special!
